Small, beautiful spring flower (Iris family).
No utilitarian uses / NOT edible for human
consumption.
White-crowned sparrows enjoy eating the seeds
and flowers. The word "sisyrinchium" comes from the
words "pig" and "snout", since swine were
said to be fond of digging up the woody roots.
