Tule House Project

"Outside Educators (Dino Labiste & Labiste) coordinated with the Math/Science Nucleus to build an Ohlone-style tule house at the Tule Ponds, Tyson Lagoon Wetland Center in Fremont. High school students, who needed community service hours, and volunteers helped with the gathering of the materials and the construction of the tule house."

On June 18 - 19, 2005, we cut the tules using bone (scapular) saws and metal cutting tools. The tules were bundled, transported and stored for the next process.
